These are extended versions when you have very thick door frame-when you have thick walls, thick door jambs, and/or thick trim. Generally, very old houses in USA and door frames in some international countries may need these Extended Vise Grip Locks. But measure first before you order: if the measurement out of your door jamb (the wood piece where your door closes against) to the front of your trim is between 4 3/4″ and 6 3/4″ inches or from 12-17 cm, then you’re going to need these extra-long extended vise grip locks. Extended Vise-Grip Locks for unusually thick door frames. Our included and regular size vice grips fit more than 95% of doorways. The Extended Vice Grip Locks are rarely needed.

Vice Grip Extenders are only needed for door jamb out measurements greater than 4.75 inches.
